Amongst the ten brave challengers you will find Shan Cothi and Brychan Llyr who'll be swapping the familiarity of a production team for the warmth of stable yards and horses, to raise money for both the Countryside Alliance and AmserJustinTime, Wales' charity for Pancreatic Cancer.
Wales' top trainers have come out in force to support the jockeys and the Countryside Alliance. Tim Vaughn, Evan Williams, Robert Luke, Alison Thorpe, Peter Bowen and Wyn Morris have all taken riders of varying skills under their wing to prepare them for this gruelling challenge and to transform them from happy hackers to jockeys fit for a track that's fit for a king. All the jockeys will be attending Newmarket School of Racing prior to the race for training and assessment.
Shan Cothi said: "I am thoroughly enjoying the experience and am so very grateful to everyone at Tim Vaughan Racing. I have been made to feel very much part of the team. My riding must be improving too as I've now progressed to the slightly more "fresher" horses on the yard. I can't wait to get on the track."
Brychan Llyr is no stranger to the race track, himself a former point to point jockey who gave Evan Williams much to think about when he took him on for training some years ago. Brychan hasn't ridden for some time but is very much looking forward to the challenge. Brychan Llyr said: "I'm very excited about the race and to have the chance to raise funds and awareness for two causes close to my heart. Even though I'm friends with some of the other jockeys, even our normal friendly banter has taken on a competitive edge!"
The remainder of the field are dedicated supporters of the countryside and are rising to the challenge. They include Angela Clarke, Anthony Owen, Ioan Marc Thomas, Jo Llewellyn, Lynda Evans, Lucy Edwards, Samantha Jennings, Alaine Francis, Tasha Sexton and Cher Gill will all be out to win.
Rachel Evans, Director for The Countryside Alliance Wales said: "To ride in the race will be very demanding both physically and mentally for the jockeys. They will have to be extremely fit to withstand the distance and to match up to the capability of the horses. The field looks promising but with only a short amount of time left for training I'm not sure yet who I'd put the money on".

Shan Cothi is in training ...and word on the street is 'she's training hard'!!!
She's donning her taffeta frock for jockey silks - and getting downright dirty!
Huge thanks to Tim and Abi Vaughan who've agreed to mentor Shan at their yard - Pant Wilkin stables
... Shan is determined to get round in one piece and doesn't want to let her fellow jockeys on the yard down - but it's proving to be quite a challenge.

Bant a ni! Rasio dros ein cefn gwlad
Bydd casgliad o wynebau enwog teledu Cymru a chefnogwyr Cynghrair Cefn Gwlad yn gafael yn yr awenau ar ddydd Sul, Hydref y 10fed i gystadlu mewn ras wastad elusennol noddedig. Bydd Y Ras Her yn cael ei chynnal ar gwrs rasio mwyaf newydd Prydain, Ffos Las, yn ystod y Diwrnod Gŵyl Rasio Cefn Gwlad cyntaf.
Ymhlith y deg sialenswr bydd Shan Cothi a Brychan Llyr a fydd yn gadael awyrgylch cyfarwydd y tim cynhyrchu am gynhesrwydd y stablau a'r ceffylau, er mwyn codi arian ar gyfer Cynghrair Cefn Gwlad a AmserJustinTime, elusen Cancr Pancreatig Cymru.
Mae hyfforddwyr gorau Cymru wedi dangos eu cefnogaeth tuag at y jocis a'r Cynghrair Cefn Gwlad. Mae Tim Vaughn, Evan Williams, Robert Luke, Alison Thorpe, Peter Bowen a Wyn Morris wedi cymryd jocis o allu cymysg o dan eu adenydd er mwyn eu paratoi ar gyfer yr her hon a'u datblygu o fod yn farchogion amaturaidd i jocis sydd yn barod i ddangos eu doniau ar drac ardderchog. Fe fydd pob un o'r jocis yn mynychu Ysgol Rasio Newmarket ar gyfer eu hyfforddi a'u hasesu.
Dywedodd Shan Cothi: "Rwyn mwynhau pob eiliad o'r profiad hwn ac rwyf yn ddiolchgar iawn i bawb sydd yn gysylltiedig â Tim Vaughn Racing. Rwyf wedi teimlo'n aelod cyflawn o'r tim. Mae'n siwr fod fy noniau marchogaeth yn gwella hefyd gan fy mod yn cael marchogaeth rhai o'r ceffylau mwy ‘fresh' sydd ar yr iard. Rwyn methu aros i fynd ar y trac."
Nid yw'r cwrs rasio yn ddieithr i Brychan Llyr, gan ei fod wedi bod yn joci pwynt i bwynt, a rhoddodd llawer i Evan Williams i bendroni yn ei gylch pan y bu gydag ef yn hyfforddi rai blynyddoedd yn ôl. Nid yw Brychan wedi marchogaeth ers amser erbyn hyn ond y mae'n edrych ymlaen yn fawr i'r her. Dywedodd Brychan Llyr: "Rwyn llawn cyffro wrth feddwl am y ras ac wrth feddwl am gael y cyfle i godi arian tuag at dau achos sydd yn agos iawn i'm calon, bydd hyn hefyd yn siwr o godi ymwybyddiaeth o'r ddau sefydliad hefyd. Er fy mod yn ffrindiau mawr gyda rhai o'r jocis eraill, mae hyd yn oed y sgwrsio a'r tynnu coes cyfeillgar wedi ei gyfnewid i rywbeth mwy cystadleuol."
Mae gweddill y cystadleuwyr yn gefnogwyr cefn gwlad brwd a maent yn barod am yr her. Maent yn cynnwys Angela Clarke, Anthony Owen, Ioan Marc Thomas, Jo Llewellyn, Lynda Evans, Lucy Edwards, Samantha Jennings, Alaine Francis, Tasha Sexton a Cher Gill, y byddant i gyd yn ceisio'u gorau glas i ennill.
Dywedodd Rachel Evans, Cyfarwyddwr Cynghrair Cefn Gwlad Cymru : "Bydd marchogaeth yn y ras hon yn her gorfforol a meddyliol i'r jocis. Bydd yn rhaid iddynt fod yn hynod o heini i wrthsefyll y pellter sydd ganddynt i'w deithio ac i wneud cyfiawnder â gallu'r ceffylau. Mae'r cystadleuwyr i weld yn galonogol, ond gydag ond ychydig o amser yn weddill i ymarfer nid wyf yn siwr eto pwy i gefnogi gyda fy arian."
